Confirmation

Confirmation, together with Baptism and Eucharist constitutes the Sacraments of Initiation.

The anointing with the sacred chrism (oil that has been consecrated by a bishop) is an essential element for Catechumens.  This signifies cleansing and strengthening and a sign of consecration in which the seal of the Holy Spirit marks our total belonging to Christ, our enrollment in his service for ever, as well as the promise of divine protection.

Youth Rite of Confirmation

Youth confirmation preparation through a Faith Formation Program is open to youth, from 10th grade and up, who have been baptized and have received their first communion.  As well as, demonstrates openness in their relationship with God and their community of faith.

 Adult Confirmation

Preparation Candidates for adult confirmation should participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Program (RCIA)  After baptized, confirmation and communion immediately follows.

Sponsors

A Baptismal godparent is not limited but desired as the Confirmation sponsor, in order to emphasize the relationship between Baptism and Confirmation.  Individuals selected as sponsors must be Catholics who are able to receive the Sacraments of the Church. Sponsors are expected to receive Holy Communion at the Mass of Confirmation.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is normally celebrated by the Bishop during the Easter season.

It is about strengthening what God has given, and continues to give, to his sons and daughters (cf. CCC 1302-1303).
